Since Covid-19 struck, Matthew’s been stuck. Like many people. At home. So, he’s been running voice sessions online. He’s also been running Speaking Beauty, a free, community, online, poetry-speaking session.
And all this while braving the supermarket; having bike-rides along quiet dual-carriageways; trying to avoid overdosing on news and booze; trying to avoid conversations with himself; fantasising about hugs with the people he loves; and dreaming of being a superhero like our noble medics and key workers.
Matthew offers three online corporate workshops.
Each lasts an hour and accommodates up to ten participants.
All enhance speaking skills.
All maintain team spirit.
All are fun.
Introduction to Voicework encourages participants to explore their vocal colour; reflect on their vocal habits; and to use exercises that work on the spoken voice.
Public Speaking consists of two sessions – Content and Delivery.
Speaking Shakespeare has all participants doing just that.
Because, whether you’re Judy Dench or a corporate lawyer, there is delight in speaking Shakespeare.
Because the physical commitment required to speak it gives the mouth and lungs a good workout.
Because speaking Shakespeare’s language invites self-exploration.
And simply because it’s fun. Feeling vibrations spill out of the body as we make muscular, emotionally-rich speech sounds is an uplifting, legal, lockdown pleasure.
Speaking Beauty – Poetry-Speaking In a Time of Pandemic
Speaking Beauty is a free, hour-long, online, poetry-speaking session. Anyone (subject to space) may participate. Each session comprises a tension-release exercise, a vocal warm-up and the exploration of a single poem using vocal exercises.
The aim is to get the voice deep in the body, savouring the delight in speaking beautiful words.
You don’t have to know anything about poetry.
You don’t have to like performing.
You don’t even have to like speaking.
You just have to be open to the possibility that speaking beautiful words aloud is one way to keep the self strong. And doing this with others, during isolation, is one way to keep our community strong.
INDIVIDUAL ONLINE VOICE-COACHING
Matthew can help with Speeches, Presentations and Accents – and on freeing voices from unhelpful habits.
